"We collaborate with the park and the Tsongas Industrial History Center to implement our NSF funded iSENSE project. iSENSE engages STEM educators in helping science and math students collect, visualize, and make meaning of data. Together with park and TIHC staff, we have developed a field trip experience for secondary science students, enabling them to use data from the Merrimack River and surrounding tributaries. During the boat portion of the experience, a park ranger shares the story of industrialization of the river and teaches young scientists to collect various samples of river water. Students share and visualize their own data and compare their findings to those of other students who have contributed to the project as they investigate the health of the river."
