About Us

One Mission, One Team

UMass Lowell EMS is committed to organizational growth, team development and individual accomplishment through service and community engagement. We promote core values focused on equity, integrity, collaboration, compassion and excellence.

Our History

UMass Lowell EMS club formed in 1984, and was formerly established as the UMass Lowell Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Society in 1986, thanks to a former student of the University and faculty adviser, David Eberiel, Ph.D. Over the years, UMass Lowell EMS has responded to thousands of calls ranging from the minor cuts and bruises to life threatening situations such as accidents, respiratory and cardiac emergencies, and many more. UMass Lowell EMS is now staffed by approximately 30 EMTs, 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the entire year.

Our Service

During a medical emergency, time is one of the crucial factors determining a person's ultimate outcome. With our dedicated campus coverage, In the event something does happen, UMass Lowell EMS can be on the scene within minutes to provide life-saving emergency care.

UMass Lowell EMS currently does not transport patients to the hospital. If a call warrants transport, Trinity EMS, Lowell's 9-1-1 provider, will also be requested to the scene to assist UMass Lowell EMS, ensuring all patients get the care they need quickly, and skillfully.

We provide emergency medical services to the students, faculty, staff, and guests of the university, as well as the community at large as needed.
