Description Voices of Change explores the ups and downs
of life and work in the industrial city of Lowell. Students will meet one of the
following characters: mill girl, loom fixer or boardinghouse keeper, and examine
authentic artifacts to learn about life at the time of the Industrial Revolution.
Students will role play characters from 1840s Lowell and debate whether to sign
a petition calling for a ten-hour work day. Voices of Change is a 45-minute
program presented in your classroom by Tsongas Industrial History Center staff
dressed in period clothing. Scheduling and Reservations
This program is offered October - April. FEES per
class of 30 students: $110 for first school program, $85 for successive same-day
program.
