Directions

Do not follow signs to the National Park Visitors Center or the Tsongas Arena.
FROM ROUTE 3
1. From Route 3 (South-Exit 30A or North-Exit 30B), take the Lowell Connector to the end.
2. Turn left onto Gorham Street which becomes Central St. (Road divides and has a slight bow in it, but continue in the original direction).
3. Proceed through four traffic lights. At the fifth set of lights, the road forks. A bank is in the center of the fork. Take right fork. (Prescott Street)
4. Follow Prescott one block to the traffic light. Cross Merrimack Street at traffic lights. (The road jogs slightly to the left as you cross Merrimack.)
5. After crossing Merrimack, proceed to the next set of lights and turn left onto French Street.
6. Proceed to light at John Street. DO NOT turn into the Boott Mills Parking area. Bus drop-off/loading area is at the curb on the right side of French Street in front of Boardinghouse Park. Look for the facilitators from the Tsongas Center/National Park stationed to greet you at the drop-off point.

FROM ROUTE 495
1. From Route 495 either direction: Once in the Lowell area, get off 495 at Exit 38, which is Route 38.
2. At end of ramp take right. Stay on Rt. 38 for about 1 1/2 miles. There is one place where there is a light and the road forks a bit--you bear to the RIGHT there to stay on 38.
3. Second stop light after this fork- Take a left onto Merrimack Street--recognized by the parking garage to your right and the Saints Memorial Hospital beyond that, big blue smokestack behind it.
4. Proceed down Merrimack Street into the city--about six blocks.
5. At Bridge Street take a right and go down to next light to take a left onto French Street. Continue to the next light at John Street. DO NOT turn into the Boott Mills Parking area. Bus drop-off/loading area is at the curb on the right side of French Street in front of Boardinghouse Park. Look for the facilitators from the Tsongas Center/National Park stationed to greet you at the drop-off point.

Driving Directions for Other Visitors to Tsongas Industrial History Center, Boott Cotton Mills Museum, Lowell, MA

1. From Route 495 or Route 3, take the Lowell Connector to the end. If coming from north of Boston, take Route 93 to Route 133 west to Route 495 south to the Lowell Connector, which you follow to the end.
2. Turn left onto Gorham Street, which becomes Central Street. (Road divides and has a slight bow in it, but continue in the original direction.)
3. Proceed through five traffic lights. At the sixth light, the Hildreth Building will be directly in ahead of you. Turn left and then take a quick right onto John Street.
4. Proceed two blocks to the Joseph M. Downes Parking Facility on your right. Park in the garage. Please note that although there is an open parking lot in front of the Boott Mills, it is not open to the public. The Public Parking garage cost is $1.00 per hour.
5. As you exit the front of the garage, the Boott Mills and the Tsongas Center will be to the right across the street. Enter the mill courtyard, turn right, and enter the building by the business (not the museum) entrance at the far end of the courtyard (look for "115 John St." above the door). The Tsongas Center is on the third floor.

Your free parking option is to follow the directional signs to the Lowell National Historical Park Visitor Center. (Signs for Lowell National Historical Park appear on the Connector and in the downtown area.)
