Bio Sketch Craig Slatin, Sc.D., MPH, is an Associate Professor of Health Education and Policy and Chair of the Department of Community Health and Sustainability, University of Massachusetts Lowell (UML). He is the Principal Investigator on a NIOSH grant to study health disparities among healthcare workers. He is also the Principal Investigator and Director of The New England Consortium, an awardee of the national Superfund Worker Training Program supported by the NIEHS. Dr. Slatin is a co-director of the Center for Public Health Research and Health Promotion (UMass Lowell). He is a member of the editorial board and the executive committee of New Solutions, A Journal of Environmental and Occupational Health Policy. He was an original member of the Lowell Center for Sustainable Production's steering committee. Dr. Slatin has been involved in international public health conferences and worker health and safety training since 1992, in Central and Eastern Europe, and in Latin America. His earlier work includes occupational, environmental and public health investigation and program coordination at the Massachusetts Department of Labor and Industries and the Boston Department of Health and Hospitals. Dr. Slatin has a history of political and social activism in: community, environmental, and labor organizing (housing, health issues, and teachers' union); food co-ops; the Boston Area Men's Childcare Collective; and worker health and safety issues.
