Educational Background

Sanborn graduated from Tufts University in Medford, MA, with a Bachelor's of Science and a Master's of Science in Chemical Engineering.  Prior to retirement, he was a NESHTA Certified Environmental Trainer (CET) in Occupational Safety and Health, Management & Transportation of Hazardous Materials & Waste, and Emergency Response and a NESHTA Certified Instructional Technologist. (CIT)

Bio Sketch

Wayne Sanborn served for 10 years as The New England Consortium's Training Manager.  He retired during the summer of 2008 but continues as a Training Consultant to TNEC.  Prior to coming TNEC, Sanborn had over 30 years of experience in the manufacturing, environmental control and chemical engineering fields.  Sanborn brings first hand experience of managing hazardous materials, from research and development to the manufacturing process.  In a former position in the industrial sector, he was responsible for operations, engineering and environmental health and safety issues at a specialty chemical manufacturing facility.  In addition to his well-established professiosnal career, Sanborn was recognized by the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials Institute (SEMI) with a "Semmy" award in the area of materials.  He co-authored several papers for various trade journals.  Most recently, he co-authored an article entitled, "Computer-Based Simulation in Blended Learning Curriculum for Hazardous Waste Site Worker Health and Safety Training," which was published in the "International Journal of Information and Communication Technology Educations," Vol. 5, No. 1, pp. 62-73, January-March 2009.
