Biosketch

Jimmy Smith, M.Ed., CET, is principal of J. Lyle Smith & Associates, an environmental, health, safety, security training/consulting firm. He is a retired firefighter with over 28 years of safety and emergency response experience. For 15 of those years, he served as the training coordinator for the Massachusetts District 6 Regional Hazardous Materials Response Team. He was also an emergency medical technician for 34 years.

Jimmy has a degree in fire science technology and a master’s degree in education. In addition to being a certified environmental trainer, he is authorized to teach a variety of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) developed courses and is an OSHA general industry and construction outreach trainer. Jimmy is approved to deliver both FEMA and DHS courses. As an adjunct trainer for The New England Consortium (TNEC) at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, Jimmy has trained personnel from many local, state and federal agencies, as well as private companies, in emergency response and a variety of environmental, health, safety and security subjects.
