Our mission is to educate students in the professional practice and research on the identification and evaluation of health, safety and environmental hazards, and the design and implementation of safe and sustainable systems of production. A large research program and many local, national, and international service activities are integral to our department’s mission.
Our faculty is internationally-recognized for research and teaching. Interdisciplinary faculty-student collaborations enrich all our educational and research activities. We are a small graduate program with a diverse student body which brings vibrancy and a truly global perspective to our classes and research. There are approximately 60 U.S. and international graduate students from Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas. This diverse student body brings vibrancy and a truly global perspective to our classes and research. Many students attend the program in the evening, while working full time in industries throughout New England.
