The SHE Scholars Honors Program is an interdisciplinary venture that connects health students with other students and faculty. This broader education helps students find solutions to improve health within our community. By participating in this program, you will learn the positive impact of incorporating perspectives of social justice, civic commitment, sustainability and community health into your chosen profession.
If you are invited to participate in the program, you will automatically become a member of the UMass Lowell Honors Program.
Both programs provide you with many opportunities to expand beyond the traditional classroom experience while working with outstanding faculty and fellow students.
Requirements of the Program
The University selects students to apply for the program based on records of academic success in high school. The application process requires a written essay on an assigned health related topic.
Scholarships
If you are selected for the SHE Scholars Honors Program, you will receive a Dean's Scholarship as well as additional seminar and learning activities. The scholarship is renewable for a maximum of four academic years as long as you:
- Maintain full-time status (earn a minimum of 12 credits per semester)
- Earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or better at the end of the spring semester of each academic year
- Meet the academic requirements for the Honors Program
- A minimum of 18 credits of honors course work
- An honors workshop course
- An honors thesis or project worth at least 3 credits
- A project presentation at a student scholarly event such as the UMass Lowell Student Research Symposium
