Sarah comes to us as a former UMass Lowell nursing program graduate. She brings eight years of nursing experience with a diverse background in areas such as pediatrics, critical care, ICU, PACU, rapid response, school health and emergency room nursing.  She has also worked in such capacities as school nurse leader under the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Essential School Health Services grant and as a professional development specialist in a hospital setting working primarily with new graduate nurses in their assimilation into nursing practice.  She holds a board certification as a Clinical Nurse Leader from AACN and holds a variety of clinical competency certifications including ACLS and TNCC.  She is also an active member of Eta Omega nursing honor society and the Massachusetts Nursing Association.

Prior to UMass Lowell, Sarah taught full time as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the department of nursing for the University of New Hampshire in both the classroom and clinical environments as well as focusing on the use of simulation in nursing education.  Sarah’s role at UMass Lowell is as a full time Clinical Assistant Professor and she will provide clinical instruction across the curriculum in both the classroom and clinical settings. She will also have a role in coordination of both the health assessment and fundamentals of nursing laboratory courses. Her extensive experience in simulation will help provide support to UMass Lowell’s expanding use of simulation and the integration of simulation in nursing education here at the University.

Sarah continues to work regularly in practice and holds a per diem position in the Emergency Room at Anna Jaques Hospital, Newburyport, MA.
