Biosketch

Nancy Labore is Visiting Faculty at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. She is a Ph.D. candidate in the Health Promotion Nursing Program at the University of Massachusetts Lowell anticipating graduation in May 2012. Her dissertation “Transition to Self-Management: The Lived Experience of 18-25 Year Old Adolescents with Sickle Cell Disease” was funded by the Eta Iota Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International. She graduated in 1998 from the University of New Hampshire with a BS in nursing. In 2003 she received an MS in nursing with a minor in College Teaching from the University of New Hampshire. She is certified in Obstetrical Nursing from the National Certification Corporation. Her clinical work has been focused on neonatal and maternal and child health nursing. She has taught maternal and child nursing in the community college setting as well as in accelerated baccalaureate programs. Her scholarly interests include adolescent health, chronic illness self-management, and healthcare disparity. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International and the New Hampshire Nurses Association.
