BDN is proud to announce that Djwan Scott, Diversity Support Services Coordinator, was awarded the Excellence In Nursing Award by the New England Regional Black Nurses Association on February 11, 2011.  “In my role, I build relationships with students, understand their backgrounds and help them gain insight into the nursing profession,” said Scott at the recognition ceremony. “This is what I love – sharing my knowledge with students who are embarking on a journey I once struggled with.”

“Djwan serves as an outstanding professional role-model for our nursing students,” says Chair of Nursing Karen Devereaux Melillo, who nominated Scott for the award. “By mentoring students and continuing her studies, she will substantially address the imbalance between the diverse population in need of health care and the limited availability of a diverse workforce.”
