Masters Program in Clinical Laboratory SciencesAbout The Program This program provides individuals with the level of graduate education to develop those skills required to upgrade the quality of their job performance and enhance their opportunities for advancement in their professions. Students will develop skills and knowledge required for the advanced degree, including critical and independent thinking, research design, normal and pathophysiology, analytical method evaluation and scientific literature assessment. Students will also develop competencies in administration and management. The program serves local and regional scientists and is the only public program of its kind in New England. Faculty are experienced in the field and several are certified in specialized areas of the clinical sciences. Completion of this graduate program does not qualify students to sit for the national certification examination in Medical Laboratory Sciences/Medical Technology offered by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification. Career Opportunities Graduates of the program are very competitive and demonstrate continuous employment in a wide variety of technologically based professions in clinical, medical, scientific and industrial areas. Program graduates gain greater mobility and expand personal career opportunities. Many choose to assume leadership roles in their fields. The degree also creates a foundation for more advanced doctoral training. Admission and Degree Requirements Both part-time and full-time students are welcome. Many students complete their degrees on a part time basis. Courses are offered during the evenings to allow flexibility and convenience for the working professional Qualified students not matriculating in the masters program can earn a maximum of twelve graduate credits before formal application to the degree program is required.
