Prospective Students

The Department of Clinical Laboratory and Nutritional Sciences offers undergraduate and graduate level science-based programs that support and advance health professions.

The many academic options in the department enable students to earn a degree that gives them lifelong career opportunities. Faculty teaching undergraduate classes are doctorally prepared in the sciences and have both teaching and research experience. Programs are nationally accredited.

Medical Laboratory Science (formerly Medical Technology) prepares entry-level practitioners in all areas of the medical laboratory, namely clinical chemistry, clinical hematology, clinical immunohematology, clincial immunology/serology, clinical microbiology (bacteriaology, parasitology, mycology, virology) and molecular diagnostics. The program is accredited by the national Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). Graduates of the program are qualified to sit for the national registry/certification examinations. Graduates are employed in medical, veterinary, and research laboratories and in the biomedical device, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.

Admission Academic Requirements for all Programs in the Department of Clinical Laboratory and Nutritional Sciences

Traditional Students
High School GPA of 2.7 and 1000 SAT

Transfer Students
Minimum overall GPA of 2.7 and 8 credits of science with a minimum science GPA of 2.7.  The 8 credits (two 3 credit lectures and two 1 credit laboratories) can be either a sequence (ie. Anatomy & Physiology I and II) or two 4 credits combinations of Anatomy & Physiology I/II, Chemistry I/II and Basic Microbiology or equivalent.
