Baseball Research Center
The mission of the center is to be a center of excellence for the science and engineering of baseball for both experimental and analytical methods, concentrating on baseball bat performance and durability.
The Center supports both fundamental and applied research related to bioplastics and biocomposites and disseminate this knowledge to industry to promote sustainability and educate future scientists and engineers. This mission is supported through the creation of transformative new materials and processing technologies and the necessary reliable, comparable material data to allow efficient and profitable industrial use of biorenewable alternative materials.
Biomedical Terahertz Technology Center (BTTC)
The Center translates the extensive terahertz technology expertise available at UMass Lowell to biomedical applications. Terahertz radiation is non-ionizing and has been shown to be capable of detecting intrinsic contrast between normal and cancerous tissues. This makes terahertz radiation well suited for biomedical imaging, especially for studying colorectal cancer and non-melanoma skin cancer.
Study normal cytoskeleton protein function, mostly neurofilaments, as related to development of the nervous system, and abnormal neuronal function, and factors that trigger this, as related to motor neuron disease and Alzheimer's disease.

Center for Advanced Coatings
The Center is a collaboration between the UMass campuses of Dartmouth and Lowell. The synergistic efforts will target cost-effective ceramic coatings, with the protection of polymer composite structures identified as the most promising among a number of potential focus areas.
The Center has been active in the areas of compute-intensive modeling of physical and information systems, and research areas include medical imaging, acoustics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, control, probabilistic modeling, information processing and communication networks.
The Center promotes scholarship and education around the cultures, histories and experiences of Asian Americans. These goals are achieved through a multidiscipline approach.
Center for Atmospheric Research
Founded with the goal of conducting experimental and analytical research in the atmospheric and space sciences, to provide research opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students, and to demonstrate how research and development tie to solving real world problems.
The multidisciplinary center is dedicated to research, training and education to advance the analytical, experimental and operational aspect of computer hardware and software and information technologies that have potential influence on the acquisition, management and storage of knowledge and "big data" knowledge extraction, data engineering and services, and machine/human computational intelligence.
The Center fosters collaborative research on campus and within the region to promote healthy aging that enables adults to grow old with dignity.
Center for Interdisciplinary Experimentation, Analysis and Research of Extreme-Scale Science (IDEAS)
Focuses on industrial innovation, regional development, corporate governance, financialization and sustainable prosperity.
Center for Program Evaluation
The Center conducts research on program evaluation methods and offers evaluation planning, consulting, training and services for the university and regional community.
CSE focuses on the integration of renewable energy systems in all sectors of the economy through research, coursework and community outreach.
The Initiative brings faculty, students and communities together to address one of the biggest challenges facing humanity: climate change.
Conducts fire research including the chemistry and physics of fire, initiation mechanisms, and fire prevention and extinguishment. These activities support current and pending cooperative efforts with federal and other agencies.

Global Media Freedom Studies
The Center aims to make an effective and positive difference in the policies and practices that govern the relationship between journalists and policymakers. The political and social implications of changing media landscapes across the world point to an urgent need for a research and instruction center that brings together academics, journalists, advocates, and policy makers.
HEROES is a joint research and development initiative of UMass Lowell and the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research Development and Engineering Center (NSRDEC). Its aim is to tap the research assets, people and facilities of both organizations to improve the survivability and protection of U.S. troops.

Middle East Center for Peace, Development and Culture
The Center fosters collaborations and partnerships with educational institutions in the Middle East across an interdisciplinary spectrum including the social sciences, the natural sciences and engineering, the humanities and health and education fields.

The Center provides state-of-the art training for undergraduate and graduate students, and to perform industrial and governmental sponsored research on novel photonics, plasmonics, material physics, semiconductor devices, and nano technology, with applications across the optical spectrum, from UV through THz frequencies.

The STL develops and applies technology in the frequency range of 100 GHz to 5THz.
