Biosketch

Ken Jacobson is a journalist specializing in business, technology, and economic policy who is based in the San Francisco (California) Bay Area. Currently senior editor of Manufacturing & Technology News and an associate of the nonprofit Academic-Industry Research Network, he has headed two specialized newsletters, New York-based Metals Week and Washington, DC-based New Technology Week, and has reported from Paris for Business Week and from Amsterdam for the Associated Press. An investigator on the Democratic staff of U.S. House of Representatives’ Science and Technology Committee between 2007 and 2011, Jacobson has also contributed to numerous published reports of the Board on Science, Technology, and Economic Policy of the U.S. National Research Council and is the author of the 1994 book Embattled Selves: An Investigation into the Nature of Identity Through Oral Histories of Holocaust Survivors published by Atlantic Monthly Press. He holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of California at Berkeley and speaks several European languages.
