By Karen Angelo
The “Great Music in a Great Space” concert on Sunday, Oct. 17, from 4 to 6 p.m., will benefit UMass Lowell’s Nursing Students Without Borders group. The concert will feature the UMass Lowell Choir, under the direction of Murray Kidd, and local musicians, who will perform theatrical and film selections from The Phantom of the Opera, Empire of the Sun and Star Wars.
A portion of the ticket sales will help defray costs of the Nursing Students Without Borders mission trip in January to care for the people of Ghana, Africa. This is the group’s third trip, during which they will provide health education on HIV, infection control, child development and quality nutrition. They will also deliver donated medical supplies to outreach clinics.
The concert will be held at the Methuen Memorial Music Hall, 182 Broadway St. in Methuen. Tickets cost $30 and can be purchased at the door or by mail. Checks can be made out to “Music Arts Alive,” P.O. Box 821, Londonderry, NH 03053. For more information, visit www.musicartsalive.com.
