LOWELL, Mass. – The public will have a chance to learn about new graduate degrees and ways to pursue their education in a variety of formats at UMass Lowell during an upcoming open house for prospective students.

Students and working professionals interested in pursuing graduate, continuing-education and online offerings can get information about the university’s 39 master’s, 33 doctoral and more than 70 graduate certificate programs at an event on Wednesday, Aug. 19 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the UMass Lowell Inn & Conference Center, 50 Warren St., Lowell. A city parking garage is next door.

“UMass Lowell’s graduate programs have been developed for working professionals and scholars to provide graduates with the tools to excel as leaders and innovators in their respective fields in business, industry, research and education,” said Kathryn Carter, vice provost for graduate education and international affairs and strategy.

Academic programs now offering graduate degrees at UMass Lowell include:

  • Pharmaceutical sciences – master’s and doctoral programs are designed to meet the growing demand for scientists who discover, develop, test and manufacture medications;
  • Criminal justice and criminology – a new doctoral program is tailored to people who want to pursue research or teach professionals in the field;
  • Public health – a master’s degree addresses the need for more professionals who are prepared to prevent disease and promote health in the population;
  • Science in innovation and technological entrepreneurship – this master’s program offers aspiring and working engineers and business professionals the skills they need to drive innovation in today’s workforce.

UMass Lowell programs are nationally accredited. Many graduate certificate and degree programs are available on campus, online or in a blended format, which combines online coursework with visits to campus to receive instruction from faculty and to participate in networking opportunities. Individuals interested in taking graduate courses without pursuing a full degree program may also register as non-degree students. Scholarships are available.

Faculty program coordinators, graduate admissions, registrar’s office and financial-aid staff will be available at the event to answer questions for those interested pursing a UMass Lowell education. Attendees may register for classes at the event.

Prospective students interested in learning about the university’s online and continuing-education offerings, including part-time degree and certificate programs, online courses and project-management seminars, are encouraged to visit http://gps.uml.edu, where program coordinators and continuing education student support specialists are available to provide assistance.
