RESCHEDULED: Community Invited to Events for Haiti Relief

When: Wednesday, Feb. 10, 5:30 p.m. rescheduled to Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 5:30 p.m. because of predicted snowstorm.

What: Students and the community will come together for a night of remembrance and reflection for Haiti relief by participating in a candlelight walk and vigil as well as a benefit concert. The walk will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Middlesex Community College main building parking lot and end at the UMass Lowell Inn and Conference Center, where the benefit concert will begin at 6 p.m. The suggested donation is $5. The event is sponsored by UMass Lowell’s Student Activities and Leadership group and the Office of Multicultural Affairs, and Middlesex Community College.

Students’ Art on Display in 20th Annual Show

When: Thursday, Feb. 11, 3 to 4 p.m., reception and awards ceremony; exhibit runs through Thursday, Feb. 18, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursdays.

What: Awards will be presented to fine arts students in recognition of their artwork showcased in “The BIG student show,” the 20th annual juried exhibition featuring undergraduate work from UMass Lowell’s art and design studios. All shows are free and open to the public.

Boot Camp for Technology Entrepreneurs, Early-Stage Companies

When: Thursday, Feb. 11, 5 to 6 p.m.

What: The Massachusetts Medical Device Development Center (M2D2) and the Boston law firm Nutter McClennen & Fish LLP, introduces the Nutter Strategic Planning Program, which is designed for startup and early stage companies ready to undergo sophisticated strategic planning and take important next steps in the formation and growth of their businesses. About 20 company representatives will attend the invitation-only program that offers four one-on-one customized counseling sessions as well as a networking and cocktail reception from 6 to 7 p.m.

Digital Credit Union CEO to Speak to Students

When: Tuesday, Feb. 16, 4 p.m.

What: Jim Regan -- a 1988 graduate of UMass Lowell and president and CEO of Digital Credit Union, which has locations throughout Massachusetts -- will discuss his career with students as part of the Manning Speakers Series. Named for Robert Manning, a UMass Lowell alum and chairman of the University of Massachusetts board of trustees, the series showcases alumni who have gained success in the financial world. Regan’s life experience spans lending, finance, loan portfolio evaluations as well as due diligence and merger-related activities.

‘Music on the Merrimack’ Features Trumpet, Piano

When: Thursday, Feb. 18, 7:30 p.m.

What: Joseph Foley and Bonnie Anderson on piano will present a trumpet and piano concert in the latest installment in the "Music on the Merrimack" concert series, which is presented through the UMass Lowell Center for Arts & Ideas. Master classes will be held the same day in Durgin Hall from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Concerts and classes are free and open to the public.
