WHAT:   Sycamore Networks Co-Founder and Chairman Gururaj “Desh” Deshpande will be the keynote speaker at “Innovation for the Next Generation,” one of the programs during inauguration week at UMass Lowell. The moderator is UMass Lowell alum Michael Olivieri, publisher of the Boston Business Journal and Mass High Tech, and panelists include fellow alums Joseph Vaillancourt, managing director of organic growth for Hampton, N.H.-based Waste Management, and Kenneth Steinberg, chief executive officer and founder of Savant Protection of Nashua, N.H. UMass Lowell experts on nanomanufacturing and medical-device development will also participate.
