UMass Board of Trustees Meeting
When: Wednesday, Sept. 19, 8:30 a.m.
Where: Trustees Room, Cumnock Hall, One University Ave., UML North, Lowell
What: The UMass Board of Trustees will meet on the UMass Lowell campus. The board’s meetings are held quarterly on different campuses throughout the UMass system. Prior to the meeting, a 6 p.m. reception and a 7 p.m. dinner will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 18, in Allen House on UML South.

Walmart: The World’s Largest Employer
When: Monday, Sept. 24, Noon
Where: O’Leary Library, Room 500M, 61 Wilder Street, UML South, Lowell
What: Bethany Moreton of the University of Georgia will speak on “The World’s Largest Employer: Walmart, Politics and Policy in Latin America and the U.S.” This lecture is sponsored by UML’s Regional Economic and Social Development (RESD) Center for Industrial Competitiveness. A buffet lunch will be served.

The Concussion Crisis in Football
When: Monday, Sept. 24, 7 p.m.
Where: O’Leary Library, Room 222, 61 Wilder Street, UML South, Lowell
What: A panel discussion will explore the concussion crisis in football. Panelists include Chris Nowinski, former Harvard football player, WWE wrestler and author of “Head Games” (2006); Dr. Robert Cantu, chief of neurosurgery at Emerson Hospital and co-director of the Neurological Sports Injury Center at Brigham & Women's Hospital; Ted Johnson, former New England Patriot’s linebacker; and Peter Wotton, president of the New Hampshire Athletic Directors Association.

Dana McLean Greeley Endowment Celebration
When: Tuesday, Sept. 25, noon to 2 p.m.
Where: Alumni Hall, One University Ave., UML North, Lowell
What: Chancellor Marty Meehan will host a luncheon to celebrate the establishment of the Dana McLean Greeley Endowment for Peace Studies.

9/11 Remembrance
When: Thursday Sept. 27, 12:30-2:50 p.m.
Where: O’Leary Library 222, 61 Wilder Street, UML South, Lowell
What: UML takes a day to remember 9/11 victims by showing the documentary “Beyond Belief” which highlights the lives of two women, Susan Retik and Patti Quigley, who both lost their husbands in the attacks. The film chronicles their extraordinary journey to rebuild themselves and the lives of women half a world away.
Susan Retick and Chancellor Marty Meehan will both be giving introductions.
