Next time you’re in the neighborhood of the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, look up. There’s art on the 80-foot-tall multi-screen LED marquee. Boston Cyberarts and the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority commission public media art for the giant digital canvas.

The next round of the “Art on the Marquee” series opens May 1 and showcases work by seven Massachusetts college students. “This is an amazing opportunity for students to show their work, huge, and visible to many, many people,” says Student Art on the Marquee Coordinator Jeffu Warmouth.

What might you see up there? The insides of a clock, for one thing. 21-year-old UMass Lowell undergraduate Joseph Amico put his love of Steampunk and sculpture into “Community,” a 30-second video illuminating the mechanical parts of a clock. Other images include a slinky in slow motion, artistic imaginings of Mars, and a lone happy dancer. The art works play in rotation with other content.

Featured artists are Amico, UMass Lowell student Hannah McGrath, Massachusetts College of Art MFA candidate Youjin Moon, New England Institute of Art student Elizabeth Shanahan, UMass Lowell student JiaYi Lin, and Vivan Lee Morph from Massachusetts College of Art.

Reception May 1, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, 415 Summer St., South Boston. Art shown daily 7 a.m.-10 p.m. through June 23 outside 415 Summer St. Free. www.artonthemarquee.com
