Lathrop a Top Delegate

LOWELL -- Tinuviel Lathrop of Lowell received the Outstanding Delegate Award as part of UMass Lowell's team in this year's Northeast Regional Model Arab League Competition that took place in Boston.

Lathrop is a junior majoring in Political Science. He was part of the Joint Defense Council representing the country of Syria.

UMass Lowell's team is made up of members of the university's International Relations Club. The 21-member club contains students from a variety of majors, including Political Science, Economics, Psychology and Mechanical Engineering.

After a long hiatus, the club is in its second year of competing in Model Arab League competitions. This year, UML competed against teams from Columbia University, Harvard University and West Point, the U.S. Military Academy. Together, the club took home nine individual student awards.
