By Craig M. Douglas, Boston Business JournalThe University of Massachusetts broke ground Tuesday on the construction of a planned $70 million technology center in Lowell.
The UMass Lowell Emerging Technologies and Innovation Center will consist of 84,000 square feet of laboratory and office space dedicated to research and development of products in the nanotechnology, plastics, biotechnology and electro-optics fields, the university said.
