Select members of campus are putting on their dancing shoes, dusting off their tuxes and donning their twirly skirts as preparations for the second annual Dancing With the UML Stars are under way.

The one-night show, which will take place on April 22, will feature eight of UMass Lowell’s faculty and staff members. The stars will be ready to perform after 10 weeks of training with their partners from the ballroom dance club in order to perfect the choreography, movement, style and character of each dance.

The stars, along with their dance partners, are:

• Afrim Alimenti, Physics, dancing the Tango with Stacy Kadesch
• Joanne Dupuis, Nursing, dancing the Hustle with Anshuman Shrivistava
• Alison Harriman, English, dancing the Waltz with Mark Sherman
• Steve Johnston, Plastics Engineering, dancing the Lindy and the Swing with Mary Angeleri
• Susan Koczarski, UMass Lowell Library, dancing the Mambo with BJ Sokolowsky
• Larisa Kradinova, English, dancing the Foxtrot with Mike Staub
• Shaun Sullivan, Accounts Payable, dancing the Cha Cha with Janet Choup
• Jay Weitzen, Electrical and Computer Engineering, dancing the Viennese Waltz with Pia Ferracin

Dancing With the UML Stars will take place in Cumnock Hall at 7 p.m. Tickets are free for UMass Lowell students with a valid school ID and $10 for faculty, staff and the general public.
