More than 4,000 UMass Lowell alumni have joined NetworkUMass, the University’s online alumni community, since its launch in late March. Those who register are able to network with other alumni from UMass Lowell, as well as alumni from UMass Boston, Dartmouth and the Medical School.
The online community allows a user to create a personal profile and search for friends and classmates using the online directory; submit a class note; post a resume and search for jobs in the online Career Center; get up-to-date alumni and campus news; establish a free, permanent, forwarding alumni e-mail address; register for events; and make an online gift.
“The response from our alumni has been wonderful,” says Director of Alumni Affairs Diane Earl. “We’ve had great feedback from everyone who has signed up, especially about the social networking features.”
UMass Lowell alumni dominate the community, with more registered users than the other three campuses combined.
“The new and improved online alumni community is so great. I was able to upload pictures of myself and my family,” says Monica Swaida ’97. “One very important feature is the ability to put my resume online and look for people that have things in common with me. I am so very excited and looking forward to meeting long lost friends.”
With the launching of the community, the Alumni Office website has taken on a whole new look. The page features UMass Lowell news and events, but also includes news and events from all of the UMass campuses. Alumni can sign up by visiting: www.NetworkUMass.com/Lowell.
The Office of Alumni Affairs will mail alumni ID cards to 2008 graduates this summer. This card will have your official alumni identification number, which can be used to register for the online community. The ID card also allows alumni to take advantage of the Proud to Partner program, which offers savings at national hotel and rental cars agencies plus discounts to restaurants and retail establishments in greater Lowell and on campus.
