I have spent the last decade involved in victim services, both as a worker and a researcher.  My interest in research on victims and criminal justice policy stems from the time I spent working in a sexual assault and domestic violence services agency in San Diego, Calif.  In graduate school, I remained focused on issues of victimization and also criminal justice policy as the project coordinator for a statewide evaluation of criminal economic sanctions in Pennsylvania. 

After completing my Ph.D. in 2005, I spent two years at Central Connecticut State University in the Criminology and Criminal Justice Department researching and teaching courses on victimization, domestic violence, family violence, and criminal justice ethics. 

This semester at UML I am teaching criminology and victimology. I am currently working on papers looking at how different types of victimization affect victim outcomes, if the relationship between domestic violence across generations depends on the type of domestic violence, and looking at how well criminal economic sanctions predict recidivism.  I also continue to work in the community through serving with organizations such as the Connecticut Domestic Violence Fatality Review Committee.
