Educational Background BA, Political Science and History, Marquette University, 1995
MA/Ph.D., Political Science, University of Wisconsin-Madison, 2005 Scholarly Interests My research focuses on African political ecology, particularly the social impacts of conservation, women's participation in community conservation, transboundary natural resource management, and linkages between HIV/AIDS and the environment.
Bio Sketch While I was born and raised in Wisconsin, I’ve spent about half of the last five years in various southern African countries including Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, and Mozambique. I’ve also worked on political campaigns, with homeless youth, for the Environmental Protection Agency, and on issues of gender equality in education. When I’m not working, I’m reading, running, camping, taking photos, trying to perfect my Italian cooking, and wishing I had a yard and enough time for a yellow Labrador Retriever.
