Bio Sketch
Dr. Bifuh-Ambe comes to UML faculty with over 20 years of teaching experience from grade school through college. She was born in Cameroon, West Africa where she received her BA and Post Graduate Diploma in Education. She taught English and Literature at elementary, middle, high school and post-secondary levels for 15 years.
Dr. Bifuh-Ambe also worked as a UNICEF consultant in Niger, West Africa, and it was during her time with UNICEF that she became aware of the low literacy rate of girls in many parts of the globe. She is passionate about improving girls’ literacy, especially in developing nations.
Prior to UML, Dr.Bifuh-Ambe taught Reading at USM and UNC, Wilmington. She is assistant professor at the Graduate School of Education, where she teaches courses in Reading & Language Arts, and Diversity. She is a member of many professional organizations including: The International Reading Association (IRA) and Kappa Delta Pi: International Honor Society in Education.
