Campus Celebrates Islamic Awareness Month

The Muslim Student Association sponsored events in honor of Islamic Awareness Month.

The Muslim Student Association sponsored a series of events celebrating Islamic Awareness Month in April. Led by president Ihab Rashad, the organization opened the month-long celebration with a screening of ‘Islam: Empire of Faith,’ a documentary explaining the history, politics and culture of Islam.

The Philosophy Department co-sponsored a presentation of gender and Islam, featuring guest speaker Shareda Hosein from Tufts University. Other presentations covered topics such as stories of conversion and the basics of living an Islamic life.

On April 29 at 7 p.m., there was a presentation in Fox Hall MPR on the roles of marriage and family in Islamic culture.
