Professor Performs with Placido Domingo

Prof. David Martins of the Music Department performed with Placido Domingo as part of Domingo’s “Around The World Tour” program. Martins was a member of the clarinet section of the Boston Symphonic Orchestra that accompanied him. 

The performance was staged in April at the CITI Performing Arts Center Wang Theatre in Boston. Placido Domingo, considered one of the great tenors in the world, sang opera arias, and the orchestra was featured in three overtures.

Martins also recently performed two concerts with the Boston Symphony at Symphony Hall as a member of the clarinet section. The program included a world premiere by John Harbison – Symphony No. 5 and Mahler Das Lied von der Erde. The program was conducted by Maestro James Levine.
