UMass Lowell's English Department presents the Common Text Film Series showing of "Koyaanisqatsi." Hard to pronounce, but amazing to watch! Koyannisquatsi (coy-yan-nus-COT-si, a Hopi word meaning, roughly, "life out of balance") is a 1983 film by Godfrey Reggio that does not tell a traditional story, but instead presents a flowing montage of time-lapse images, combined with a dramatic score by Philip Glass, that invites the viewer to consider our contemporary pace of life and our too-common estrangement from nature.
