String Project Plays Spring Concert

 

When: Sunday, May 23, 3 p.m.

 

Where: Durgin Concert Hall, UML South, Wilder  Street

 

What:

The UMass Lowell String Project presents its Spring Concert Sunday, May at 3 p.m. in the Durgin Concert Hall, UML South. The concert is the culmination of a year of string-instrument lessons for more than 100 Lowell Public Elementary School Students.

The String Project is coordinated by Prof. Susan Turcotte-Gavriel, master teacher, and Dr. Kay George Roberts, project director.

*Poje to Speak on Preventing Fires, Explosions and Toxics Releases

 

Where:  Alumni Lounge, University Avenue UML North

 

When: 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 26, 2004

 

What:

Gerald V. Poje, Ph.D., a member U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board, will be the featured speaker in the UMass Lowell Alumni Lounge on University Avenue, Wednesday, May 26 at 12:30 p.m. Poje's presentation will focus on the safety of U.S. chemical handling facilities and opportunities for broader partnerships with the training community in preventing chemical disasters.

This program is sponsored by The New England Consortium (TNEC), a UMass Lowell-based worker health and safety training organization. Since 1987, TNEC has delivered hazardous waste site operations and emergency response training to over 15,000 workers.
