WHAT: Students ages 14 to 20 from across the country will gather at UMass Lowell to compete in a national mock trial competition, sponsored annually by the National Law and Government Explorer Advisory Committee and Learning for Life. All teams have studied the same case, preparing to present both the prosecution and defense arguments for a criminal trial and as the plaintiff or defendant in a civil trial. They will be told which side to present at the competition. Students play witnesses and attorneys. Three rounds will be held Thursday to determine which teams will compete in Friday’s three elimination rounds. The two teams with the highest scores will compete Saturday, July 26 at Suffolk University in Boston.

WHEN: Best time to contact students is 3:15 p.m., just before the final round of competition each day.
