How to Search the Virtual Catalog
| Go to the BLC Virtual Catalog Patron Login Screen.
or the Massachusetts Statewide Virtual Catalog Login Enter your Patron ID number into the appropriate box and click the Start button. Your Patron ID number is the 16 digit number on your UMass Lowell ID or Special Borrower's card. Some Special Borrower's cards will have Patron ID numbers beginning with SBS or SBN. Click the Search/Request button.

Log on to the BLC Virtual Catalog or the Statewide Virtual Catalog Click Review your Requests. You will be presented with a list of the titles of your most requests and their statuses. Use the yellow side bar to Quit or go to the Patron Menu to begin to search the Virtual Catalog. |

| Choose an index to search, Title, Author, Subject or ISBN.
The Catalogs to Search box should read, “Request books from Virtual Cat.” Enter your search terms in the box marked Term and click the Start button. |

| . . You are now presented with a list of the libraries that have items matching your search. Please scroll down to see the list of items. If you wish to change your search terms, click New Search in the yellow sidebar. |

| Clicking on a title will reveal more information about that title.
To request an item, click on the square blue Request button. |

| Verify that your name is correct. Select either O’Leary or Lydon Library as your Pickup Location. Be sure that the Need by date is correct. Enter any necessary information (such as volume number) in the Notes to Librarian box, but be aware that entering notes will slow the processing of your request. Ensure that the E-mail address for notification is one you check regularly. If it is not, please enter a more current address. Click Submit Request. |

| You are now presented with a confirmation of your request. Record the request number for future reference. Click Search Results in the yellow side bar to request more items from your original search. Click New Search to look for different items. Click Quit in the yellow sidebar if you are finished. Click the Next button to learn about checking the status of your requests. |
