As Associate CIO, Jim provides tactical and strategic leadership, direction, and oversight of critical technology infrastructure systems, services, and operations that advance the academic, research, and administrative needs of the UMass Lowell community.   He advises the CIO, directors, managers and staff on technology and policy matters concerning the network, shared services, systems/servers/storage, and telecommunications infrastructure.   Functional areas of responsibility include: network services and operations; system engineering, information security, enterprise messaging and voice services, enterprise storage and backups, directory services, and data center operations. 

Hired by UMass Lowell in 2002, Jim has over twenty-five years’ experience in engineering and IT management, software development, and IT security operations.

Jim has a bachelor's degree from the University of New Hampshire in Mathematics/Physics.
