Scholarships
General Description The Honors Scholarship Fund, sustained through donations by members of the university community, is an endowed fund created for the purpose of providing merit-based awards to students enrolled in the CommonwealthHonors Program at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. This year, The Honors Scholarship Committee will confer six scholarships (described below). All award winners will be recognized at our Honors Banquet in May.
Eligibility Criteria To be eligible to apply for an Honors Fellows Scholarship, all students must be members of the Honors Program in good standing, and be making regular progress toward their Honors degree. Students may apply to both scholarships, but will only be eligible to receive one award.
Honors Fellows Scholarships for Academic Excellence The Honors Program will award four scholarships of $1,000 each. One award will go to a student from the College of Fine Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences or the School of Health and Environment. The other will go to a student from the Colleges of Engineering, Sciences, or Management.
Honors Fellows Scholarships for Academic Excellence will be awarded to students who best embody the Honors ideal. These students are academically excellent, but their achievements aren't limited to the classroom. These are student leaders, activists, volunteers, and researchers—people who are already making a difference in their future careers or their community. Awardees will be selected by the Honors Scholarship Committee on the basis of their GPA, leadership, participation in on-or off-campus activities, and/or research achievements as demonstrated in the application, essay, and one recommendation. Please fill out the attached application form and deliver it to the Honors Program at Southwick 320 on North. We will also accept electronic applications. Send these to Elizabeth_Donaghey@uml.edu. Applications are due the second Friday in April.
