Physical Therapy

Prospective Students

The Physical Therapy Department offers two programs of study leading to degrees.  The undergraduate program offers a Bachelors degree in Exercise Physiology, and the graduate program offers a Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Department Attributes

  • Laboratory courses have small teacher-student ratios to allow for greater feedback in developing clinical skills. 
  • State-of-the-art laboratories for motion analysis, balance, and cardiopulmonary evaluation.
Special Programs for Graduate Students

A number of student assistantships are awarded each year to assist faculty with research, teaching, community outreach and program implementation.

Exercise Physiology students participate in the annual New England American College of Sports Medicine College Bowl.  In November 2009, the UMass Lowell team beat 15 universities and colleges in New England to take first place.
