As a temporary employee, you are not eligible for state-subsidized health insurance coverage through the Group Insurance Commission (GIC).
If you reside in Massachusetts, you may shop for health insurance through the Massachusetts Health Connector and may be eligible for advanced premium federal tax credits and/or state subsidies if your gross family income is at or below 400% Federal Poverty Level. Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
UMass Lowell offers an Employee Assistance Program
to provide employees with confidential assistance with stress, substance abuse, family concerns and other personal problems.
Voluntary Retirement Plans
UMass Lowell offers two voluntary retirement plans: you are eligible to participate in the 403(b) plan and you may make additional contributions to the SMART Plan, also known as a 457(b) plan.
You also may make additional (voluntary) contributions to the SMART Plan (please see Mandatory OBRA
) which may be invested among a wide array of investment options. This plan is also known as the 457(b) plan
