
The M.Ed. is a 30-credit degree that can be completed entirely online. The degree is appropriate for candidates who work in school settings and/or have relevant experience in Curriculum and Instruction. It does not lead to teacher licensure in any state. Candidates seeking this option must first complete the Graduate Certificate in Behavioral Intervention in Autism (BIA). Information about applying for the certificate can be found on the Continuing Studies website.
Applying to the M.Ed.
Candidates may apply to the M.Ed. during the semester in which they complete the fourth course of the 12 credit Graduate Certificate. Admission will be pending successful completion of the certificate.
An application for the M.Ed. degree can be requested or completed online at the Graduate Admissions site http://www.uml.edu/grad/.
All applicants must submit:
* Statement of Purpose (1-2 pages in length)
* All official transcripts
* Three letters of recommendation
* Application fee
* No GRE is required if the candidate has maintained a GPA of 3.5 or better in the certificate program. Candidates who do not achieve a 3.5 GPA must submit GRE scores.
Once accepted into the M.Ed. five Behavioral Intervention in Autism courses (marked * below) may be used in the degree, if the candidate has earned a grade of B or better. Other courses taken as part of the certificate will be assessed by faculty for its appropriateness for the M.Ed.

Candidates who are enrolled in the M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction may take some of the Autism Option courses as electives with permission of the program advisor, but unless they officially apply to and complete the BIA certificate program, the option will not be recorded on their transcript.
