Policy with respect to the Graduate Record Examination
The Graduate School of Education accepts only Graduate Record Examination scores (verbal, quantitative and writing sections). GRE scores are required of all applicants to masters, CAGS and doctoral programs even if the individual already holds an advanced degree. An official score report is required; however, if the applicant previously took the GRE and has access to a clear and unmarked student record, this may be submitted for consideration. Candidates may be asked to re-take the GRE if the admissions committee considers this may strengthen the application. As a guideline, scores of 500 Verbal, 500 Quantitative and 4.5 Analytical Writing are acceptable. The admissions committee makes a holistic judgment, taking into account all aspects of the candidate’s submitted materials, when deciding whether to admit a candidate.
