Health & Social Sciences Building

Naming a laboratory, classroom or conference room offers a great tribute to an individual, family or corporation – connecting their names with the meaningful work that will be conducted in the Health & Social Sciences Building (HSSB). The following are examples of naming opportunities still available.

Naming Opportunities: A Great Way to Leave a Legacy

Naming of the Health & Social Sciences Building - $5 million
The HSSB, located on UMass Lowell’s South Campus, will bring together three of the University’s largest departments: Criminal Justice and Criminology, Nursing and Psychology. This important new building will help the University accommodate its growing student body, which has seen a 30 percent increase in undergraduates since 2007.

Exterior Plaza - $1 million
A signature area is the HSSB’s exterior plaza, which has been designed to enhance and beautify public space on South Campus.

Nursing Demonstration Hospital Wing - $500,000
Future generations of University nursing students will have an unprecedented opportunity to learn in a special area designed to precisely mimic a hospital wing, including a nurses’ station, beds, headwall systems and similar features.

Atrium/Common Areas - $250,000
Designed both for overall aesthetics and casual meetings, these public meeting spaces will enhance collaboration and provide a sense of community among students, faculty and organizational partners.

General Classroom – (Large) $250,000 and (Small) $100,000
The HSSB’s first-floor classrooms will provide much-needed space to enhance all of South Campus and be available
for use by all programs, not just the three disciplines housed in the new building.

Assessment, Simulation, and Research Laboratories
  • Nursing Health Assessment Laboratory - $100,000
  • Nursing Simulation Laboratory - $75,000
  • Research Laboratory - $50,000
Specialized labs, such as simulation and assessment rooms and research facilities, have been designed for the health and social sciences disciplines housed within the building.

Conference/Group Project Room -$50,000
The HSSB features several flexible conference rooms in which students, faculty and other partners can collaborate on projects.

Faculty Office - $25,000
For years, UMass Lowell’s South Campus has had a severe shortage of faculty office space. The new HSSB provides numerous new offices and also will free up existing space in other South Campus buildings.

Graduate Assistant Office - $10,000
Graduate assistants play a vital role in quality teaching and research, and offices have been reserved for them in the new building.
