Biosketch

TJ McCarthy is responsible for overseeing many of Operations and Services day-to-day maintenance, housekeeping, trades, grounds keeping, energy and sustainability groups in the Facilities Management Department. The physical upkeep and student experience on UMass Lowell’s campus, currently over 4 million gsf and growing, are the primary responsibilities of this department. TJ oversees more than 140 staff members who are charged with duties ranging from grounds and snow removal, classroom maintenance, plumbing, HVAC, painting, locks, electricity and general building maintenance.

Prior to working at UMass Lowell, he held the position of Assistant City Manager-Commissioner of Public Works for the City of Lowell.  

TJ has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Allegheny College in Meadville, Penn.
