Adam Baacke is the Director of Campus Planning and Development. Adam possesses a professional background of over 20 years in planning and development administration, project management and design.  

He is responsible for leading the development and management of ongoing campus wide planning, project definition and campus systems; programming; capital project development from feasibility through schematic design; ongoing research and communication of best practices; real estate activities; coordination and co-operation with local, state and federal government and other partners; and development of space inventory and other campus archives. He spearheads a talented planning group comprised of architectural, design, planning and facilities information systems professionals.

Prior to arriving at UMass Lowell, he worked for the City of Lowell for over 13 years with his last held position as the Assistant City Manager/Director of Planning and Development. Adam holds a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University with concentrations in American History; City & Regional Planning; Theater Design and Historic Preservation. He also has a master’s degree from UMass Boston in Public Affairs and attended MIT’s program in Real Estate Development and Finance. He is an active member of several national and local planning and cultural associations.
