In Boston, a city of many guitarists, Rick Schilling stands out as an artist and teacher of unusual capacity.  Skilled in jazz and classical guitar he has  developed a program in Plectrum Classical Guitar at University of Massachusetts Lowell that is perhaps unique in the nation for its depth, rigor and variety.

Mr. Schilling received his Bachelor of Fine Arts  in Music Performance from the University of Minnesota and his Master of Music in Guitar Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music, where he was a merit scholarship recipient.  A skilled arranger and jazz pianist, Rick is often heard accompanying his wife; well-known jazz vocalist Rose Jamieson.

A local college music professor since 1981, he has performed in solo recital, jazz small group, as guest chamber musician or soloist as well as a vocal accompanist in both idioms.  Six compact discs and two books of solo guitar arrangements are credited to Mr. Schilling.

Born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin, Mr. Schilling has resided in Boston since 1981.
