Sociology Student Selected for Emerging Scholars Program
Travis Overton (’16) was one of nine students in the College chosen as an Emerging Scholar for 2014-2015. This selective program provides top students with a unique year-long opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge gained from courses at UMass Lowell to a faculty member's on-going research. Travis will be working with Assistant Professor Angelica Duran-Martinez (Political Science) on a project that examines organized civilian responses to drug violence in Mexico and Columbia. The Emerging Scholars program is based at the Center for Women and Work.
