College of Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Advising Center

The College of Fine Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences welcomes all FAHSS students to visit the Advising Center on the first floor of Coburn Hall. The purpose of the center is to support the academic success of FAHSS students via advising, major exploration and success coaching.

Advising in Your College

First-Year Students

All students are assigned a Faculty Academic Advisor, who is listed in SiS. All FIRST-YEAR students are also assigned a Professional Academic Advisor, also listed in SiS, to assist students with acclimating to college and successful academic planning. First-year students in the College of Fine Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences are assigned to Lara Akinyemi.

Transfer Students

All transfer students are assigned a Faculty Academic Advisor along with a professional advisor from the Centers for Learning, Advising and Student Success who assist with the transition to UMass Lowell, major declaration and course selection. Transfer students in the College of Fine Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences are assigned to Todd Borchers.  

Class Registration

All students in the College of Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences are expected to meet with an advisor prior to registering for classes and to discuss ways to support their success at UML.
