Biosketch

Matt Hurwitz teaches in the First Year Writing Program at UMass Lowell and has helped to organize the Spring 2012 Common Text Film Series as well as being involved in a number of other initiatives related to the teaching of writing.  He is especially interested in connecting student writing to real world experiences.  He recently presented a paper on Indo-Caribbean writer V. S. Naipaul at the Rocky Mountain MLA Conference and is currently working on research related to the representation of English national identity and empire in 1960s British travel fictions.
