Service Initiatives

Our graduate program’s academic focus on sustainable development and social justice is not merely grounded in theory, but is actively demonstrated on the campus and in the Greater Merrimack Valley community by our students. We encourage students to use the theoretical knowledge and analytic tools gained in the classroom to engage in community problem-solving and development.

As part of RESD Club’s fall and spring service initiatives, students in our program have partnered with various art, civic, and social service organizations including:

  • Bread and Roses Centennial Committee
  • Clean River Project
  • Lawrence History Center
  • Lowell Film Festival
  • Lowell Sprouts
  • Lowell Transitional Living Center
  • Lowell Winterfest
  • Lowell Women’s Week
  • Merrimack Valley Food Bank
  • Merrimack Valley Food Co-op
  • Merrimack Valley Project
  • Reach Out RiverHawks
  • Sibling Connections
  • UMass Lowell Student Veterans Organization
  • United Teen Equality Center (UTEC)
  • Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
