Biosketch

Ofer Zmiri is an expert on terrorism and counterterrorism strategies.  A career intelligence officer, he served in top counter terrorism positions throughout the Middle East, North America and Europe for Israel’s world-renowned internal security force Shin Bet. Ofer Zmiri has homes in Israel and Boston, speaks a number of languages necessary for effective immersion relative to security issues and counterterrorism assignments. Throughout his unique career, Ofer has been closely involved with extremely serious global terrorism crises.
He moved to North America in 1986 to take part in postgraduate programs at McGill and
Harvard Universities, and after working as Vice President and International Chief Marketing Officer for large American companies, he has decided to implement his security knowledge in the United State.

He teaches classes on terrorism and counterterrorism at the University of Massachusetts. He is also adjunct professor in Business Continuity and Statistics at Brandeis University. He is a member of the advisory board of the cyber security program at Brandeis Graduate Professional School. In addition to his educating roles, Ofer serves as President of a private security consultant firm. He is one of a very small group of counter terrorists responsible for the architecture of the famous Israeli Aviation Security System, including the design of Ben Gurion Airport’s security system (heralded as the safest airport in the world) and was instrumental in developing the process for identifying potential airport terrorists.
